After co-writing the application for the designation it was great to be at the Dr Sun Yat Sen Garden for the announcement by Peter Kent of the granting of the National Historic Site status to Chinatown.

That’s awesome!!! And kudos to you for being part of the process. I’ve been really worried about Chinatown being swallowed up by the condos that are steadily marching eastward. Hopefully this will afford the neighbourhood at least some protection. It’s one of the most important neighbourhoods in Vancouver from a historical POV, especially when paired with Strathcona.
