Granville Street in its Heyday
In the CBC interview this morning with Margaret Gallagher about Granville Street and the last of the movie theatres closing, I mentioned the atmosphere and the sense of excitement you’d find during the street’s heyday. I think this photo captures it well.
Great Moments in Park Board History
In 1919 it was suggested that the board put on open air movies in Stanley Park. Not sure it was approved. That same year the Board put aside a flower bed to grow poppies “from Flanders Field”.
